Regular milk is one of the very first things we consume when brought into this world, so it’s fair to admit its popularity among everyone. Almond is an incredibly nutritious low calories beverage that turned over quite a craze, as a plant-based dairy alternative. Loaded with the goodness of almonds, ground and combined with adequate amounts of water creating that crisp and nutty flavour. Along with added nutrients like potassium, magnesium and phosphorus, almond milk is great for people who want to cut calories and lose weight. Around one cup, that is 240 ml of almond milk contains about 30–50 calories, while the same amount of whole dairy milk contains 146 calories. That’s almost 100 fewer calories in almond milk. We all know restricting your calorie intake is a great way to lose weight, almond milk helps to keep those extra dairy calories off your plates. Over dairy milk almond milk is preferred to lay off unnecessary calories while maintaining the same nutrition.
You also need to consider unsweetened almond milk, as the calorie count in those would be much lesser and in control. The only drawback is that the almond milk protein content is not very high. Even though almonds are a great source of protein, almond milk is not with only 1 gram of protein per cup as compared to regular milk’s 3.5 to 4 grams of protein. Hence, it’s considered a good beverage for weight loss by gym-goers, but not great for those who are looking to pack on some muscle and keep the great sources of protein around them at all times.
